Sonni & Ronni: Discovering the world of energy together

Where does the electricity from the wall socket come from? How does the sun generate electricity? And what actually happens in an energy community? Our new comic series "Sonni & Ronni – The Energy Explorers" invites children and their families to explore these questions.

A cheerful sun and a curious boy

Sonni is the EEG WIEN mascot. With his green scarf and friendly smile, he accompanies Ronni on an exciting journey of discovery. Ronni wants to know many things – and asks questions when he doesn't understand something. He also contributes his own ideas.

Together, the two explore how electricity is generated, what we need it for, and why the sun, wind, and water are valuable energy sources. Colorful pictures and easy-to-understand conversations make the topics accessible to children.

What the energy explorers have already experienced

In the first seven episodes, Sonni and Ronni get to know each other and discover why we need renewable energy. They talk about how people share their solar power and what advantages this can have for families and electricity producers.

Protecting our climate, nature, and wildlife also plays a role. The two examine how an energy community functions and why cooperation, solidarity, and shared benefits are important.

Finally, Ronni takes action himself: What can his family contribute? When is solar power particularly useful? And who could he tell about his discoveries?

Big topics, explained in an understandable way

With this comic series, we want to inspire children about energy and our environment. They should be allowed to ask questions, discover connections, and experience that their ideas matter.

Sonni and Ronni also demonstrate the importance of community: when people work together, they can make better use of renewable energy and make a difference for their region.

Reading, asking and discovering together

The comics are perfect for looking at and reading aloud together. A question from Ronni can quickly spark a conversation at home: Which appliances use electricity in our house? Are there any solar panels in our neighborhood? And where can we save energy?
