Are you an energy ambassador?

What is an Energy Ambassador?

An Energy Ambassador is an external person who promotes our energy community and shares its benefits in an authentic way. This person is usually an active and enthusiastic member of one of our renewable energy communities for a long time. In short: Energy Ambassadors are committed individuals who demonstrate with conviction and experience how the energy transition works locally.

What does an energy ambassador do?

Through personal conversations, recommendations in their own community, or at local events, an Energy Ambassador contributes to strengthening trust in the Energy Community, increasing its awareness, and fostering a positive public perception. An Energy Ambassador speaks openly and enthusiastically about our Energy Community in their community, thus communicating its benefits to interested parties.

As an Energy Ambassador, you can also make a valuable contribution online – for example, by sharing information about our non-profit activities and the benefits of the Energy Community in online forums or on social media. You can comment on relevant posts or create your own content to raise awareness of our services. It's important to us that we don't want to encourage spam, but rather provide information in an authentic and respectful manner.

You can also take action in your immediate environment – for example, by distributing flyers in your neighborhood or, if permitted, putting up a poster in a shop, café, or at an event.

Who can become an energy ambassador?

Anyone with some experience with energy communities can become an Energy Ambassador and actively support us. You can simply get started – no registration or approval from us is required. The most important thing is that you are motivated to make a positive impact on your community and promote the energy transition.

Does an Energy Ambassador have responsibilities?

No, you are completely independent and have no obligations to us. You simply pay attention if someone, for example, has high electricity bills, has installed a photovoltaic system, is annoyed about their last electricity or grid bill, or something similar. In such situations, you bring the energy community into the conversation and share your experiences and the benefits with others.

You can also actively approach people yourself – if you like and feel up to it. For example, talk to your neighbors, colleagues, or family members about the benefits of the energy community. Since we are also able to accept small and medium-sized businesses, you can also talk to the owner of your hair salon, your favorite restaurant, or the local florist.

Of course, this requires a certain amount of sensitivity, as some people are skeptical about energy communities or have little interest or knowledge about energy and electricity.

Will I receive support from EEG WIEN?

Of course, you can contact us at any time if you need materials such as flyers, posters, or brochures. We are also happy to provide you with visual material, such as charts on specific topics. If you need current facts and figures about our energy community, you can also contact us at any time.

By the way: In our Download area We provide you with helpful materials such as charts, brochures, posters and flyers.

If someone in your circle of friends has questions that you cannot answer, simply pass the ball on to us – we will then take care of all the necessary information.

As an energy ambassador, can I serve on the association’s board?

Energy ambassadors are located outside of our association, do not have a close organizational relationship with us, and therefore – unlike the initiators – cannot assume any functions on the association’s board.

What is the difference to an initiator?

An initiator is closely involved in our organization and communications. They receive important information early on, can communicate requests and suggestions via the EEG coordinator or directly to the association's board, and play a key role in establishing and further developing the energy community.

Initiators also have the opportunity to take on a role on the association's board of directors—and thus actively shape the future of the energy community. They assume responsibility right from the start by helping to recruit enough members for the initial launch. Even after the association's founding, they contribute significantly to its growth.

You can find more information about the initiator HERE.

When are energy ambassadors useful?

Energy ambassadors are always welcome – but their work is especially effective once the renewable energy community is already established and operational. This is precisely when energy ambassadors can speak from their own experience – making their statements particularly credible and authentic.

Is there payment for Energy Ambassadors?

The work as an Energy Ambassador is voluntary and independent. There is no financial compensation. The focus is on personal commitment to a sustainable energy future and supporting the community.
