EEG Vienna is a dynamically growing energy community
Since August 2025, we have been putting our plan into action: Every Viennese resident should have access to a renewable energy community. We operate on a social, non-profit, and voluntary basis, providing personal support to interested individuals, quickly informing them about new communities, facilitating easy membership, ensuring fair compensation, and maintaining a balanced ratio between electricity consumption and feed-in – for a stable, sustainable community.
Higher quality through strict management of our energy communities
Participating as an electricity producer in an energy community is particularly worthwhile if as much of the generated surplus electricity as possible can be used within the community. We ensure precisely this with an intelligent and sophisticated energy management system that optimally balances supply and demand, thereby maximizing the share of electricity used jointly.
A notice: The PV feed-in for the EEGs of other associations is currently only about 10 – 15%.

EEG WIEN is already successfully active in many districts of Vienna.
Although our community is still relatively young, we already supply more than half of Vienna with our renewable energy communities – in the case of BEG WIEN, this even includes all districts. The districts that we supply, at least partially, are highlighted in gold.

Brigittenau, Donaustadt, Döbling, Favoriten, Floridsdorf, Hernals, Hietzing, Liesing, Margareten, Meidling, Ottakring, Penzing, Währing, Wieden.
What is an energy community?
We are a non-profit energy community/association, supported by volunteer members, and we assist our participants with administration, organization, and billing. The video to the side explains more about how energy communities work and their advantages.
